Who & What is Digitalenscape?
Who - James Ball.
Born in the UK but now living in New Zealand with Tricia (my wife and best friend) and Rohan our first and only child born in May 2007. Since his birth Rohan and his rapidly expanding group of friends, has naturally become a bit of focus for my photography. Some of his photos can be seen here.
Another area of focus has been wedding photography. This started as being asked to cover friends weddings but has now expanded beyond that. I really enjoy seeing the differing styles of ceremony and helping the happy couple capture the day.
And finally, the area that is taking up most of my time now - comercial photography and graphic design for companies like PGG Wrighton and Raztec. See my customers page for more info.
What - From the ever changing patterns and hues of a cloudy sunset, to the geometric precision of a sunflower seed head. I've always been fascinated by the seemingly endless beauty and detail nature has to offer.
What drove me to want to capture and preserve these moments in time was a desire to share them with my family and friends. My parents gave me my first 'proper' camera, a Pentax S1a, for my birthday. I've been snapping away (or as I've now come to think of it - digitally archiving nature) ever since.
The next natural step to taking photos of things I wanted to record was to start taking photos for other people. Digitalenscape serves two purposes;
- Lets me showcase some of my images, I have built up quite a collection over the years. These are some of my more recent favourites, mainly from around New Zealand.
- Promote my services as a photographer and designer. It's one thing to have a camera and know which way to point it. It's quite another to end up with a result that looks like you want it to. The next natural progression to taking the photos was to help people utilise them in their designs.
All the images you see in the gallery are for sale as either a file, print or framed print. One day I'll get around to getting an online store added!
